The EB-5 Program is a way by which foreign investors and their immediate family members obtain Green Cards and secure Permanent Residency in the US.
There are two categories of EB-5 Paths. They are:
1. Direct EB-5: This path requires an investor to invest the sum of $1,050,000 in an American business that creates or saves at least 10 full-time jobs for American workers. You must ensure the business creates the aforementioned jobs throughout the entirety of the program.
2. Indirect EB-5: Work with a regional center that approved by the USCIS to help with economic stimulation and job creation in high-unemployment areas. The regional centre takes an investment of $800,000 which it invests in any Commercial project and ensures the job quota is met throughout the entire process.
USCIS started the EB-5 Program in 1990 to boost the U.S. economy with foreign capital and job creation. In 1992, USCIS added the Regional Centre Program to offer more options for investors who want to partner with regional centers.
The investment sum is $800,000 and it’s returnable within 5 to 7 years depending on the project in which the fund is invested. However, the Regional Centre is not permitted under the law to guarantee a return of the investment as the investment would by law always be regarded as an “At Risk” investment. They currently have a 100 percent return rate on all their investments since they were founded in 2008
